Dear Younger Self…

Dear younger self,

You don’t actually know me, but I certainly know you. Someday you will know exactly who I am, but for now, you are focused on exactly where you are right now.

You are about 17 years old right now and you are living life day by day. You have no worry of tomorrow and no care for the future. This is the time in your life when most of your worries and fears are what you will wear the next day or whether or not the cute boy likes you or not. I wish I could shake you and tell you to enjoy the days and soak up every moment when things are not so bad. I know they feel like the end of the world to you right now, but it isn’t.

In about 3 years you are going to elope and marry the one man no one would ever want you to be with. You will be stubborn and hold as tight as you can to the trust you have in this man you love in spite of his faults. You will have the hardest first year of marriage imaginable, but hold on tight because there is so much beauty in the end! You will be carrying your sweet baby girl in your womb while trying to keep your marriage in one piece, but be still because God will carry you. You probably don’t believe a word I am saying right now because I know who you are at 17, but hold these words close to you if you can. Once you are in this marriage, in spite of the level of difficulties, God will move mountains! You will see Him work in your marriage, in your husband and in YOU in incredible ways! Have patience and trust your marriage to rest in HIS hands.

Baby Nursery Makeover

I am so excited to share this next room makeover with you! The moment we found out baby #3 was a girl I was immediately inspired to create her nursery!

We moved into our new home when I was about 6 months pregnant and because she slept in our room for the first few months we didn’t rush to finish her room right away. This room was a darker beige color and really was not one of the worst looking rooms in the house.

But, I love gray walls with white trim and my whole house is pretty much painted the same color because you can change out the decor easily in a room anytime you want if the walls are a good neutral color! I knew I wanted to do gray and blush pink in her room. I have always loved blush pink and pairing it with the perfect gray is always so beautiful!

We painted the walls gray and it made such a difference already! The gray was the perfect shade with all that sunlight coming in from that nice big window!Next I went on a search for the perfect curtains! I wanted the color as close to a very blush pink as I could possibly find. I didn’t want pig pink and I certainly didn’t want hot pink. I shopped many stores online trying to find the perfect color, but it can be so hard to trust the color of something online. So I set out on a journey in store and, as usual, started with Target! I should not have been surprised that I found the curtains of my dreams at Target because Target never fails! I have preached this in previous blog posts and I will forever preach it!

What to Wear Wednesday- Grey Bird & Co.

Happy What to Wear Wednesday, my friends! I always love these days because I get to talk all things fashion with you and I also get to share a new fashion find or shop that I have fallen in love with!

Today I am here to tell you all about this sweet online shop called Grey Bird & Co.! I recently learned about this shop and I love that their pieces are unique, handmade in the U.S. and very versatile! Their clothing can be worn casual, dressy and are easy to accessorize and change-up the look!

Grey Bird & Co. was founded by a full-time stay at home mom who was tired of the waste and ethical practices of most fashionable companies! She created this company to serve all women with versatile and ethical clothing for all body types! I love how eco-friendly this company is and I applaud them for donating many of their fabric remnants to non profits, including a charity called Mia’s Mission who turns the fabric remnants into clothing for NICU babies!

To My Love and the One Loved by Many

To my precious husband,

You turn 31 today! It’s a day we celebrate the day you were born and the world immediately became a sweeter place because of you! You are kind, tender, loving and caring. You exceed my dreams everyday by loving me so selflessly and beautifully everyday. You are the perfect team mate to do life with, the best partner in crime to face this crazy life of parenting together and the besets friend a girl could ask for! Thank you for blessing me endlessly and never failing to make me laugh when I need it most. There truly is no-one that “gets me” quite like you do and that is truly a God given gift! I cry ugly tears over how incredibly thankful I am for you and could not be happier with the life we have built together. I love our silly dances in the kitchen, I love how ticklish you are even though you hate it, I love how patient you are when I throw your pillow off the bed every time you get out of bed (laughing just thinking about it), I love that we both appreciate chinese food the same way, I love our classic TV show marathons (currently almost through all of Will & Grace), I love your dry humor and horrible dad jokes and I love your accent you use when you read books to the kids.

So much I love about you and I get to enjoy it all forever with you! Happy Birthday, my love and may you feel celebrated and extra loved today!

I love you to the moon and back.

-Elisa

You are an amazing father, husband, friend, grandson, brother and more! I know you have not only blessed me in so many ways, but you have also touched the lives of so many others. There are so many people that are lucky to have you in their life and I have a few of them right here to share how you mean to them. May this be a reminder to you how truly spectacular and special you truly are!

Top Tips for Family Photo Outfits

You may not know that along with being a blogger I am also a photographer! I have been doing photography for 10 years now as a hobby and a business!

I often have clients ask me what they should wear for their photos especially for family photos since it includes several people. I was recently talking to a friend about this and I decided I should share my thoughts here with all of you! It can be so hard to come up with the perfect outfits that don’t match too much, but still coordinate well.

We recently did our own family photos, which to be honest with you, I dread having our own family pictures taken. I can give clothing advice all day long to clients, but when it comes to my own family I think too hard about it. Not to mention, kids never nap on the day of pictures? Can you totally relate? It’s like they know and plan it just to make us crazy!

So here are my top tips for planning outfits for family photos and my thought process in choosing our own outfits recently! I wish I could also give you tips on how to handle a child refusing a nap on picture day, but you are on your own on that one! Good Luck!

1/ What do you have at home?

I do not like spending a lot of money on family photo outfits. Especially because I am already paying for the session so by the time I am done with it all I am broke like a joke! So I go through everyone’s closets and figure out what everyone has! For these specific photos I knew my husband had a nicer pair of shorts that were light gray and he had a chambray (denim) short sleeve button up here could wear. So I started working around that. My son already had a nice pair of khaki shorts and my daughter had a nice pair of white capris. I started with those items and then went shopping!
