To My Love and the One Loved by Many

To my precious husband,

You turn 31 today! It’s a day we celebrate the day you were born and the world immediately became a sweeter place because of you! You are kind, tender, loving and caring. You exceed my dreams everyday by loving me so selflessly and beautifully everyday. You are the perfect team mate to do life with, the best partner in crime to face this crazy life of parenting together and the besets friend a girl could ask for! Thank you for blessing me endlessly and never failing to make me laugh when I need it most. There truly is no-one that “gets me” quite like you do and that is truly a God given gift! I cry ugly tears over how incredibly thankful I am for you and could not be happier with the life we have built together. I love our silly dances in the kitchen, I love how ticklish you are even though you hate it, I love how patient you are when I throw your pillow off the bed every time you get out of bed (laughing just thinking about it), I love that we both appreciate chinese food the same way, I love our classic TV show marathons (currently almost through all of Will & Grace), I love your dry humor and horrible dad jokes and I love your accent you use when you read books to the kids.

So much I love about you and I get to enjoy it all forever with you! Happy Birthday, my love and may you feel celebrated and extra loved today!

I love you to the moon and back.

You are an amazing father, husband, friend, grandson, brother and more! I know you have not only blessed me in so many ways, but you have also touched the lives of so many others. There are so many people that are lucky to have you in their life and I have a few of them right here to share how you mean to them. May this be a reminder to you how truly spectacular and special you truly are!

My dearest Matthew. Today I look back to thirty-one years ago when you made me a mama. The first to split wide open, not only my womb, but my heart. From the second I knew I was pregnant with you my heart felt a love I had never felt before. While my world may have been swirling, I knew something so right, so beautiful, so precious was growing inside of me. I didn’t know God back then like I do now, but still, I had a sense of destiny and purpose when I found out I was carrying you. I knew this creature I had not yet known was a gift, not only to me, but to the world. That’s why I named you ‘Matthew’ (not Matt 😉) Matthew means ‘gift of God’, and you were and are.

Your heart makes me stand amazed. You are tender and loving. You give and love hard. When I see you be a husband and a daddy, my heart swells with joy. I marvel at the man you are. God has redeemed our rocky start, that’s for sure. I could not be prouder of who you are as a man, as a husband and as father. I get it, you’re not perfect, but your heart, Matthew, that’s what I see.  It’s precious, so very precious. I love you, son. I love you so very much. I really, really love you forever, like you for always, as long as I’m living, my baby you’ll be.

Matthew is the brother I never had growing up and didn’t know I needed until he entered into my life. Now I can’t imagine life without him. He can fix just about any issue I have with my iPhone, he will be at every family event cuz that’s how much he values family, and though he doesn’t use many words when he chooses to talk it’s always meaningful. I’m blessed to call you brother and happy to share my birthday month with you. Love you Bro.

P.S. Thanks for making all my wedding reception dreams come true with your 12 hours of hard work up on the lift. You da man!!

Matthew I just want to say thank you. Thanks for rescuing me when I get stressed out, for being a brain storming buddy when I run out of ideas. Thank you for sending me cryptic text messages to decipher, and a constant stream of funny gifs and interesting technology. And most of all thank you for owning a comfy couch that I can borrow it from time to time while we chat and play games late into the night.

You’re wicked smaht, you’re amazingly talented, and you’ve got a great heart and an enormous passion for your work and your family. All of these are admirable and I hope one day to be half the person you are. In short you’re just a fantastic person and I’m so grateful our paths crossed and that I’ve been allowed to get to know you and call you friend.

I wish you success on all your future projects, joy in your day to day activities, patience when things don’t go quite as planned, and the greatest satisfaction from all the best life has to offer.

Happy birthday to my friend, and my fellow beard.

PS: I think it’s about time we replay through Portal 2.

Happy Birthday Matt! As we grow older we realize who our true friends are, and you have been one of those to me. You have been a brother to me and have always been willing to help when I needed. To be honest I probably wouldn’t fight a lion or bear for you, but I would do almost anything for you. You have always been my most creative and talented friend. I have seen you grow by using those gifts at your job and to help those around you. Throughout the years it has been awesome to watch you with your family. You genuinely care and support your wife and children. It is awesome to watch you be a husband and father to them and you always take authentic interest in them. I hope you have a wonderful birthday.

Sometimes communicating what you feel about a person / what they mean to you is difficult. I’ve probably tried to write this little note three different times, and each time I determine what I’ve written isn’t sufficient; my words can’t capture how grateful I am to know Matthew. We’ve only been friends for about 18 months, but he has shown me the kindness and grace of someone who has known me much longer. I haven’t made this easy for him, I can be a bit of a loose cannon, but he is calm and collected even when I to lose my cool. Matthew has been able to help me navigate through some of the muck and mire of my life, and I don’t think he’ll ever grasp just how much it’s meant to me. Also he has a great sense of humor and shares my strong distaste for country music.

Don’t ever change, Matthew.

I actually heard a bunch of great things about Matthew long before I had met him, and I was sure they couldn’t all be true.  But aside from needing to gain a little more experience he turned out to be as intelligent and gifted as advertised. Add to that a devoted father, husband and a man who has chosen to use his talents and abilities to further the Kingdom.  I am honored to call him my good friend and muse. Happy Birthday!

Birthday greetings to a brother in Christ!
‘And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.’ Romans 8:28
Matthew, I am so thankful for you and God’s calling in your life! That is by God’s grace and I am thankful for you, as a husband, a father, and a dear brother in Christ!
Thankful for your friendship and the opportunity to serve in Christ’s church with you!

Happy Birthday Matthew! I wasn’t quite sure how gushy I was going to get for your birthday, but then I thought why not go for broke. It has been my great pleasure to be your friend and colleague in ministry since coming to Community. You’re passion for people and desire to see them impacted by the Gospel of Jesus Christ is an inspiration. I can say that with authority because I’ve witnessed that impact first-hand in my sons. You have blessed them, given them direction, and shown them God’s grace and love. There’s little better you can give a father and you’ve given that to me. I am grateful for your presence in my life and blessed to be able to call you friend. Happy Birthday.
